Chandigarh, August 21: – Haryana Governor, Mr. Satyadeo Narain Arya assured academicians that there will be no shortage of funds to step up research work and professional courses introduced under the new National Education Policy. Sharing more aspects of the New Education Policy, he said that it is for the first time that the government has decided to contribute 6 per cent of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) for the education sector.

Mr. Arya was speaking on concluding ceremony of the four-day Digital Conclave on the new National Education Policy at Raj Bhavan. Vice-chancellors and academicians of a several universities were present in this programme and Vice-Chancellors and officers of many other universities and educational institutions participated in Conclave through video conferencing. Chairman of Haryana State Higher Education Council, Mr. B.K. Kuthiala gave a presentation on the conclusion of the four-day digital conclave.

Governor, Mr. Arya said that special provisions have been made for imparting education to socially downtrodden in the new National Education Policy. It will be a challenge for all of us to implement these provisions. To ensure this we need to harmonise with private institutions in a better manner, he added. By adopting the new Education Policy, if we are able to fetch equal opportunities for imparting education to poor people, then it will be a matter of pride for the country.

Emphasising equal education, the Governor further added that we have to bridge the gap of urban and rural education prevailing in the education system so that everyone will get equal opportunities. If education is evenly imparted in the country then there will be no disparities in the society and a new India will be created.

He said that stress has been laid on skill, employment, technical knowledge and specialisation in the new National Education Policy. If we have to meet these expectations then the universities and industries will have to collaborate and create diplomas, degrees, business courses so as to groom the youth in these disciplines. Our country is rich in folk arts and regional languages. Thus, research work on ancient folk arts should be done at Higher Education level, so that youth will be able to study them by adopting them as a career.

Mr. Arya said that Haryana is the first state where a four-day digital conclave has been organised on the new National Education Policy and effective brainstorming on the implementation of education policy has been conducted. He congratulated Haryana State Higher Education Council as well as all academicians associated with the education world for the effort. The entire nation is looking upto the Vice Chancellors, Academicians, Professors and Teachers for successful implementation of the new National Education Policy.

He hoped that all those who attended the conclave will implement the new Education Policy with vigour and determination while keeping in mind the outcome of detailed discussions held in the last four days. With this, they will contribute significantly in the building of the nation, he added.

On this occasion, Secretary to the Governor, Dr. G. Anupama specified that Anganwadi Centres have been considered as the centre of education in the new Education Policy. She suggested to impart special training to teachers for Anganwadi Centres so that trained teachers can train Women and Child Development Officers and employees.

She stressed on the need for a common model act for all universities. She hoped that artistic education will be imparted for all-round and balanced mental development of children according to the new Education Policy.

Prof. Brij Kishore Kuthiala, President of Haryana State Higher Education Council, while giving detailed information about this four-day conclave, informed that the Vice-Chancellors and academicians of more than 250 schools, colleges, universities have given their suggestions and the council will now prepare an action plan for the implementation of the National Education Policy.

He said that the main feature about the New Education Policy is that it will ensure learning along with teaching. Along with the students, their parents and teachers will also have to go through strict training. He assured the Governor that under his guidance, Haryana should be made the first state in the country to implement the new Education Policy.
