The Union Government has decided to provide AAY, BPL, and OPH ration card holders of Haryana 5 kg wheat per member per month free of cost in addition to the essential food items being distributed to them under the National Food Security Act, 2013 for the month of May and June under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMGKAY) by the Central Government.

Chandigarh, April 27 – The Union Government has decided to provide AAY, BPL, and OPH ration card holders of Haryana 5 kg wheat per member per month free of cost in addition to the essential food items being distributed to them under the National Food Security Act, 2013 for the month of May and June under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMGKAY) by the Central Government.

Giving this information here today, an official spokesperson of the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department said that essential items are being distributed through 9,690 depots to 1,22,51,366 beneficiaries of a total of 27,04,855 ration cards in the state. Out of these 27,04,855 ration cards, the number of ration cards of Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY-Pink) 2,48,134 and members 9,98,340, below poverty line (BPL-yellow) number of ration cards 8,92,744 and members 41,00,546 and Other Primary Family (OPH-Khaki) ration cards number 15,63,947 and members 71,52,480.

He said that in addition to the essential commodities being distributed by the State Government, it has also been decided by the Central Government to provide 5 kg wheat per member per month free of cost to AAY, BPL, and OPH cardholders under PMGKAY. He informed that from May 1, 2021, this wheat will be available free of cost at all ration depots to consumers.

The spokesperson said that during the period of May, June, and July 2021 the Department will provide the holders of AAY and BPL ration cards in all the 22 districts received one kg of sugar at Rs. 13.50 per kg per family and two liters of mustard oil at Rs. 20 per liter per family per month.

He said that in May, June, and July 2021, AAY ration cardholders from 17 districts namely Bhiwani, Charkhi Dadri, Faridabad, Fatehabad, Gurugram, Jhajjar, Jind, Kaithal, Kurukshetra, Mahendragarh, Mewat, Palwal, Panchkula, Panipat, Rewari, Sirsa, and Sonipat will be provided 25 kg of wheat at the rate of Rs 2 per kg and 10 kg of millet at the rate of Re 1 per kg. Similarly, BPL and OPH cardholders will be provided 3 kg of wheat at the rate of Rs 2 per kg and two kg of millet at the rate of Re 1 per kg.

In the other five districts namely Ambala, Karnal, Rohtak, Hisar, and Yamunanagar, AAY ration cardholders will be provided 25 kg of wheat at the rate of Rs 5 per kg and 10 kg of millet at the rate of Re 1 per kg. Similarly, 3 kg flour will be made available to BPL and OPH card holders at the rate of Rs 5 per kg and two kg of millet at the rate of Re 1 per kg.
