The extension services rendered by Krishi Vigyan Kendra Ropar despite the challenges thrown up by COVID-19 won it the top ‘Best KVK in Zone 1 (2nd position) Award’ during the Annual Zonal Workshop of KVKs of Zone-1 held during July 18-20, 2021. In this workshop, 21 KVKs of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, 13 KVKs of Uttarakhand, 13 KVKs of Himachal Pradesh and 22 KVKs of Punjab participated and presented their annual progress report.
Dr Trilochan Mohapatra, Secretary DARE & Director General ICAR, New Delhi was the Chief Guest and Dr B.S. Dhillon, the Former Vice-Chancellor, PAU was the Guest of Honour in the inaugural programme. The workshop was also graced by the Worthy Vice Chancellors, the Director of ICAR ATARI Zone-1, Directors of Extension of various universities, the Heads and scientists of KVKs. The Scientific deliberations were held in five technical sessions chaired by various dignitaries.
Dr. G.S. Makkar, Deputy Director (Trg), KVK Ropar said that it is a moment of proud for us and recognition of our work at Zonal Level is highly encouraging for whole KVK team. Dr. Makkar expressed his gratitude to the Worthy Vice-Chancellor, PAU; the Directorate of Extension Education, PAU and ICAR-ATARI Zone -1 who discovered hitherto hidden potential in KVK team and enabled us to move forward even faster and better despite Covid 19 pandemic challenges.
