43 NEW ASSISTANT SUPERINTENDENTS APPOINTED IN JAIL DEPARTMENT, RANDHAWA GIVES APPOINTMENT LETTER TO 4

JAIL INFRASTRUCTURE BEING SPRUCED UP; ZERO TOLERANCE TOWARDS GANGSTERISM

Chandigarh, April 29:

In a bid to provide employment avenues to the youth of the State in line with the objectives of flagship ‘Punjab Ghar Ghar Rozgaar and Karobar Mission’, the Jail Department appointed 43 new Assistant Superintendents. Due to Covid restrictions, the Jails Minister S. Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa today gave appointment letters to the 4 candidates as a symbolic gesture and exhorted them to make their mark with strict adherence to the principles of probity and professional competence. Remaining 39 candidates were given appointment letters separately.

Pointing out further, the Minister said that the Jails Department is undergoing radical transformation with the sprucing up of the infrastructure across the jails of State which include installation of CCTVs in order to keep a hawk’s eye on all the happenings and prevent any untoward incident besides keeping a check on smuggling of mobile phones inside the jails. “Under no circumstances would the atmosphere of jails allowed to be vitiated and zero tolerance policy would be followed in respect of gangsterism”, revealed S. Randhawa.

Apprising the minister on the occasion, the ADGP (Prisons) Praveen Kumar Sinha said that the aforementioned candidates namely Jaskinder Singh, Ms. Akashdeep Batra, Prabhdyal Singh and Samandeep Kaur are part of the 43 candidates selected as Assistant Superintendents. He also said that the candidates would undergo induction training at Punjab Jail Training School in Patiala for 6 months followed by practical training.

Among others present on the occasion included the Principal Secretary Jails D.K. Tiwari and IG (Prisons) R.K. Arora.
