(Appeals to party workers to finish the membership drive as per deadline of February 20)
Chandigarh, 6 February 2025
Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) working president Balwinder Singh Bhundar today announced that five thousand more copies comprising five lakh forms would be disbursed tomorrow in view of the heavy demand for the same even as he disclosed that 25 lakh forms had already been handed over to party leaders and workers as part of the SAD’s organisational elections.
In a statement here, while appreciating the party rank and file for approaching the people vigorously to enrol them as members of the SAD, Mr Balwinder Bhundar said “it was decided to print five thousand copies in view of persistent demand for more copies after the distribution of 25,000 copies. If this demand still persists I have given the go ahead to print another five thousand copies. This will lead to a total recruitment of 35 lakh members which speaks volumes about the interest of Punjabis to align with the SAD”.
While appealing to the party rank and file to enrol members by fanning out to the grass root level, Mr Bhundar also appreciated the fact that hundreds of workers had risen to the occasion and enrolled thousands of workers. “Even now party workers are thronging the SAD office to collect the enrolment copies. This shows the dedication of these workers towards the party. The party will do its best to honour such workers”, he added.
The working president also disclosed that he had talked to the Delhi and Haryana units of the party to speed up enrolment of members. He said the enrolment drive in Delhi was likely to get a fillip with the completion of the Delhi elections. Mr Bhundar said he had also received reports indicating an enthusiasm for the membership drive in Rajasthan and Haryana as well as other parts of the country including Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand. “We have advised all our party units to submit the enrolment copies at the earliest”.
Mr Bhundar appealed to the party leaders and workers to do their best to complete the enrolment drive as per the deadline of February 20 so that the entire process for holding of the organisational elections could be completed as per schedule. EOM
