Chandigarh, July 11 2021
Raising the voice of the industrialists and traders who are suffering and incurring losses due to power crisis in the state, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) will protest against the Captain Amarinder Singh-led Congress government in Ludhiana on Monday. Disclosing this here on Sunday, senior leader of the AAP and Leader of Opposition (LoP) in the Punjab Assembly, Harpal Singh Cheema and party’s Trade Wing state president Dr Inderbir Singh Nijjar said that the AAP will protest in Ludhiana against the problems being faced by the common people and heavy losses to the industries due to power shortage in Punjab. They said that the party’s trade wing will burn the effigy of Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh, raising the voice of traders and industrialists against the failure of the government.
Taking a dig at Captain Amarinder Singh, Harpal Singh Cheema said that the Captain government had failed to give the traders of Punjab their rights and was ready to further destroy the industries already facing recession. He said that Captain Amarinder Singh, who formed the government by promising 24-hour power supply to the people of Punjab, had now failed to provide uninterrupted power supply, which was causing huge economic loss to the industries. Cheema said that it was due to the deadly power agreements reached during the SAD-BJP government with the private power companies and its implementation by the Congress government; that the people of Punjab were suffering. He said with the formation of the AAP government in Punjab, the faulty power agreements would be canceled in the first cabinet meeting. “The cancellation of the faulty PPAs would not only alleviate the power crisis but would also make the electricity cheaper,” he added.
Dr Inderbir Singh Nijjar said that today, the traders and farmers of Punjab were suffering from power shortage and were paying due to the mistakes of the Captain government. He said that the government had ordered to shut down the industries instead of filling up the power shortage in the state, leaving thousands of people working in these industries unemployed and production coming to a standstill. The AAP leaders said that under Captain Amarinder Singh’s rule, small traders, shopkeepers, farmers and industrialists were in dire straits. They said that the Congress and SAD-BJP, while in power in Punjab, had always robbed the people with their wrong policies. The AAP leaders demanded that Captain Amarinder Singh should compensate the industries for the economic losses incurred due to power shortage.
