Action will be taken with regard to damage to farmer crops due to hailstorm or water logging: Dushyant Chautala

Chandigarh, March 17- Haryana Deputy Chief Minister, Dushyant Chautala said that action will be taken with regard to damage to farmer crops due to hailstorm or water logging on the basis of report submitted by the Deputy Commissioner. He elaborated that there is no shortage of budget and additional pipe or pumping sets will also be installed in the areas where water logging is prevalent, if required.

Chautala, who also holds the portfolio of Revenue and Disaster Management Department, while answering to a question raised by one MLA today said that there are 18 assembly constituencies in the state where water is present in the low-line areas despite the lack of excessive rain due to which farmers’ crop suffer. He said that the first meeting of the Disaster Management Department has been held in January and the second meeting is slated to be held in April. Thus, if any MLA drafts the report in this regard after meeting the Deputy Commissioner of the concerned district then necessary action will be taken.

Deputy Chief Minister said that last year, a committee constituted by Disaster Management Department had sanctioned Rs 40 crore as financial assistance to the farmers. In response to another question, he said that there was hailstorm in some areas of the state recently and the report is yet to come. He elaborated that farmers will be compensated for the areas from where the loss of crop is reported under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Beema Yojana.
