Administration committed to promote sports culture in Kargil: Baseer Choudhary
KARGIL, FEBRUARY 05, 2021: Deputy Commissioner and CEO, LAHDC, Kargil Baseer ul Haq Choudhary said that the youth of Kargil District are the best performers in every field and possess the capability to bring glory to Kargil in sports and other activities while remaining enrooted to their values and culture.
The DC Kargil stated this while addressing young players and artists during a dinner party organized by the District Olympic Association Kargil (DOAK) in connection with the successful conclusion of the 1st ever 15 Days Ice Hockey Coaching Camp for Women Ice Hockey Players of Kargil District at Sports Authority of India Training Center Bagh-e- Khomeini here on Thursday evening.
SP Kargil Anayat Ali Choudhary, Additional SP Iftikhar Talib Choudhary, district officers, members of the District Olympic Association Kargil (DOAK), members of media fraternity, staff members of Sports Authority of India Training Center Kargil, players and artists were present on the occasion.
The DC said that sports culture needs to be promoted in Kargil and one of the highlight of Kargil is that people live here with togetherness and as a community enjoy their culture which certainly helps in promotion of sports. He assured the youngsters that the Administration is committed to encourage young and budding players to showcase their sporting talent in different modern as well as traditional games and concrete measures are being taken to achieve this goal.
Earlier, President District Olympic Association Kargil (DOAK) Haji Mirza Hussain while addressing the gathering said that after the formation of Ladakh as a Union Territory, aspirations of youths have increased regarding sporting activities. He informed that as per norms, each Olympic Association in every state gets direct affiliation and recognition from the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India. Thus the idea behind formation of this association is to get direct affiliation with the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports and to fetch maximum facilities, playgrounds, stadiums, equipments and opportunities for the youth of the region. He also expressed optimism that sports activities in the district will get a new fillip under the UT set up.
Haji Mirza also extended gratitude to the District Administration Kargil and all concerned departments and officers for rendering timely and dedicated services for successful conduct of the 1st ever 15 Days Ice Hockey Coaching Camp for women Ice hockey players in the district.
Lecturer English Kacho Hassan Khan Aahil conducted the proceedings of the event while Chief Organizer District DOAK, Shahnawaz Habib Var thanked all the guests for witnessing the occasion. He also threw light on the achievements of District Olympic Association Kargil.
Earlier Shina, Purgi and Balti artists presented cultural performances in front of the guests and won thundering rounds of applause.
