Divulging the details, Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori said that this step was aimed at facilitating revenue officials during their field jobs so that routine working does not get hampered while Patwaris and Kanoongo are on field visits. He added that as per directions of the revenue department, the lump sum amount up to Rs. 60,000 has been given to officials for buying new laptops. He said that the officials concerned after purchasing the equipment had submitted their bills to the office of District Revenue Officer, following which the amount was reimbursed by the administration after the verification of their purchase.
Notably, an amount of Rs. 300 per month would also be paid to concerned officials as internet expense, he said adding that to avail that facility they have to purchase a dongle for using internet services. The DC said that as per detailed guidelines issued by the department, the Patwairs and Kanoongos have been mandated to buy laptops having configuration such as i5 processor 11th generation, windows 10 professional and above, 8gb ram, 512 gb ssd, OEM warranty 3 years plus 2 years AMC.
Terming this decision a revolutionary step in the direction of further digitizing and computerizing the working of Patwaris and Kanoongo, who usually spend most of their time in the field, Mr. Thori asked all the remaining officials, if any, to immediately purchase new laptops and submit the bills at DRO office for quick reimbursement of payment. He said that these laptops would not only facilitate revenue officials in their day to day work but also ensure timely disposal of files during their field visits, thereby enhancing efficiency of their work.
