Leh, July 20 2021 Advisor Ladakh, Umang Narula today chaired a meeting to discuss the declining trend in sanctioning and disbursal of loans under Weaver MUDRA Yojana, a sub–scheme under Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana. It was informed that the weaver MUDRA scheme facilitates margin money of up to Rs 10,000, credit guarantee and loans at a concessional rate of 6 per cent for a period of three years.
Further, it was apprised that both the ADs of Handloom and Handicraft would be given a target of sponsoring 100 cases for the two districts for the current financial year under the scheme. Advisor Narula directed the concerned officials to complete the sponsoring within the next 15 days.
Highlighting the Artisan Credit Card Scheme, it informed that 600 weavers have been issued artisan cards in Leh and 380 weavers have been registered and issued artisan cards in Kargil.
Advisor Ladakh directed the Industries & Commerce Department to conduct awareness camps on large scale in collaboration with the banks to spread awareness about the various handicrafts/ handloom credit schemes of the Govt of India and UT Administration.
K.C Sahu, Assistant Director, Ministry of Textiles informed that a total of about 3,000 artisans have been registered by the DC, Handicrafts, Govt of India and were provided tool kits, capacity building in the form of design workshops in metal craft, integrated design and woodcraft etc. He further informed that training in carpet weaving is being carried out in three centres in Ladakh.
