Chandigarh, April 1 – With the aim to make Haryana free from vector-borne disease, Malaria the Haryana Home and Health Minister, Anil Vij today launched the second phase of the Malaria Mukt Mewat (MMM) Campaign. Besides this, ‘Antara-Hari-Software’ has been launched for effective implementation of family planning programme.

          Furthermore, providing relief to the HIV AIDS patients the Health Minister said that the Health Department will also provide them with a financial assistance of Rs. 2,250 per month. In addition, second round of screening of Haryana Jail HCV Project for Hepatitis B and C in Jails was also launched. Among other events, the Health Minister also released the Annual Report on Vector Borne Disease Control Programme, Haryana.

Vij said that after the successful completion of the first round of the Malaria Mukt Mewat Campaign, the incidence of the disease in the state has declined by 97 per cent. Thus, in the second phase, 1.86 lakh people from 62 villages falling under the three Primary Health Centres of the district, Ujina, Sudaka and Bai, will be tested and treated by 74 teams for malaria fever, he added. For this, door-to-door visits will be made so as to detect malaria parasite in humans.

He said that to eliminate malaria, all the Panchs and Sarpanchs of the state should also spread awareness among people so that the state is malaria-free by 2022.

          On this occasion, the Health Minister inaugurated 7 new ART Centers in the state. The Health Minister said that the State Government is committed to provide good standard of living and other facilities to HIV patients. With regard to Village Health Sanitation and Nutrition he said that in the first quarter there will be testing of all pregnant women to detect HIV and syphilis, which will be done by the Asha workers and ANM of the village concerned.

On this occasion, the Health Minister started the scheme by giving the pension cheques to the people suffering from HIV AIDS.

Vij said that ‘Antara-Hari-Software’ (Injectable Contraceptive Information Management System- Antara Hari) is a web mobile-based application, which line-lists users who are taking injectable contraceptives and their doses. Its main objective is to provide timely service to the beneficiaries. The software will help ASHA workers follow-up the beneficiaries, as well as send reminders in the form of SMS reminding them for the next dose.

Additional Chief Secretary of Health Department, Rajeev Arora said that the state of Haryana has already conducted screening for Hepatitis C in the first round from December 2018 to August 2019. Now, under the Haryana HCV Jail Project, the state will conduct screening of inmates for treatment of Hepatitis B and C in all 19 jails. He said that the Health programmes are being run as per the guidelines of the Government of India and will be completed according to the date suggested.

Mission Director of National Health Mission, Haryana Prabhjot Singh, Director General of Prisons, K. Selvaraj and other officials were present on the occasion.
