Approve proposal to establish PM Mitra Park in Jodhpur soon: Chief Minister

Jaipur, June 20. Chief Minister Shri Ashok Gehlot on Monday wrote a letter to Union Textile Minister Shri Piyush Goyal urging him to approve the proposal of Prime Minister Mega Integrated Textile Region and Apparel (PM Mitra) Park at Kankani in Jodhpur soon.

Shri Gehlot wrote in the letter that the textile industry of Rajasthan has a rich past. The State Government has taken steps from time to time to promote this industry. As a result the textile industry of the State has developed in an organised way. Traditional clothes made here are famous all over the world.

The Chief Minister further wrote that Jodhpur already has good facilities to project the products of Rajasthan in the international market. The Marwar Industrial Cluster, which connects to the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC) of the Government of India, located in Rohat, is just 7km from the proposed PM Mitra Park. Multi-modal logistic park is also proposed in this cluster. He wrote that as the Amritsar-Jamnagar highway passes through Jodhpur, movement of goods from Kandla and Mundra port will also be possible.

Shri Gehlot also wrote in the letter that along with the ancient textile industry, Rajasthan also has prestigious institutes related to textile technology like IIT, NIFT and FDDI, where skilled workers and technicians are getting ready for the textile industry. To further strengthen the textile industry, many beneficial provisions have been introduced by the State Government in the investment promotion scheme by declaring textile as a thrust sector.

The Chief Minister further wrote that about 1000 acres of land has been proposed for PM Mitra Park in Kankani, Jodhpur. The works of developing electricity, water, roads and other infrastructure facilities have already begun. The proposal of PM Mitra Park was sent by the State Government to the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, on March 9, 2022. Through this letter, Shri Gehlot has requested for early approval of the proposal of the park in view of the favorable conditions for textile industry in Rajasthan.
