Harassed over police brutality, youth attempted suicide, Captain’s false claims regarding employment exposed
Youth will give a befitting reply to Captain in the 2022 elections
Patiala, April 11, 2021
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has condemned the brutal cane charging by the police on the unemployed youth protesting outside Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh’s Patiala residence, calling it a highly reprehensible act. In a statement issued from the party headquarters on Sunday, AAP MLA from Barnala and Youth Wing president Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer said that Captain Amarinder Singh, who had made big promises to the youth before the elections, was now raining batons on the youth demanding their rights. He said that the youth of Punjab were roaming unemployed, but Captain Amarinder Singh was sitting comfortably in his farm house and living a peaceful life.
Lashed out at the Captain government over the suicide attempt by an unemployed youth out of police brutality, Hayer said that it was an unfortunate time that people had to risk their lives to get employment. He said that in the last four and half years Captain Amarinder Singh had not fulfilled a single promise in the state and was always running away from his promises. Hayer further said that the youth had enthusiastically handed over the state to Captain Amarinder Singh, hoping that he would take them by the arm and give them employment but now Captain Amarinder Singh was reneging on his promises.
The AAP leader said that the current state of unemployment in Punjab was that the government was failing to provide employment to the unemployed despite charging crores of rupees in the name of new recruitments. Hayer said that the posts in the government departments of Punjab were being abolished due to which the youth were facing more risk of unemployment. He said that in the 2022 elections, the youth of Punjab would take stock of the false promises made by Captain Amarinder Singh and will give him a befitting reply.
