Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC, Kargil Feroz Ahmad Khan in presence of the Deputy Commissioner and CEO, LAHDC, Kargil Santosh Sukhadeve today convened a meeting to review the status of progress achieved under Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) works in the district.
Executive Engineer PHE Subhash Chandra, representatives of Contractors’ Association Kargil and engineers of PHE attended the meeting.

During the course of the meeting, CEC Feroz Khan reviewed village-wise status and timeline for achievement of targets and directed the officials to complete the JJM works in villages, schools and anganwadi centres within the stipulated timelines.
DC Santosh Sukhadeve maintained that by next Independence Day celebration there are three key targets to achieve that include water pipeline connections to every household, grey water management plan and water connection to schools and anganwadi centres.
The officers concerned apprised the CEC and DC of the various issues and challenges being faced by them in the implementation of JJM projects.
The meeting was informed that few blocks are on priority for completion by December, 2021 which include Pashkum, Taisuru, and Drass.
The Deputy Commissioner informed that the first block which achieves 100 percent target will get a reward of 25 lakhs while the first Panchayat to achieve this target will get a reward of Rs 5 lakhs from the LG Ladakh.
The CEC and DC Kargil urged the Contractors’ Association to actively take part in the tendering process of JJM works and give their best in achieving the targets under the scheme.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner Kargil instructed the concerned officers to do the needful to extend pipeline connections to remaining 30 percent schools and anganwadi centres in a timely manner.
