‘Instances of Lakha Sidhana and Mukhtar Ansari expose the double-face of Capt. Amarinder’
Chandigarh, February 27
Launching a scathing attack on Punjab Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh, known for taking action against gangsters, senior Punjab Bhartiya Janta party leader and former State Secretary Vineet Joshi has accused the CM of maintaining “static silence” and “no-action strategy” against two gangsters in Punjab for vote bank politics.
“Non-arrest of the gangster Lakha Sidhana and by not transferring dreaded gangster Mukhtar Ansari to Uttar Pradesh, it is evident that Capt. Amarinder is selective in his action against gangsters, eyeing upcoming State Assembly Polls, scheduled to be held early next year”, he said, in a strongly worded statement issued, here today.
Accusing Capt. Amarinder of initially “fueling” the farm agitation to reap political benefits, Joshi, who is former Media Advisor to Punjab Government, said, “Gangster Lakha Sidhana is wanted by Delhi Police for his involvement in the Republic Day violence in Delhi and also carries a reward of Rs 1 lakh, attended a rally in Punjab’s Mehraj village but was not arrested by the Punjab police.” Targeting Punjab Police for the “shameless” failure to arrest Sidhana, Joshi said that it is extremely unfortunate that Punjab police are finding technical reasons, trying to justify its inaction to run away from its responsibility.
Joshi also said that despite an open threat from the gangster, Punjab Police have not acted so far for the reasons best known to them. He further went on to add that Sidhana openly challenged the police from the rally but the police present at the rally site watched everything as a “mute spectator”.
Warning Capt. Amarinder not to indulge in such acts, which can cause grave threat to the hard earned peace of Punjab, Joshi questioned not just Sidhana, why the Congress Government led by Capt. Amarinder is “shamelessly” protecting hardcore gangster Mukhtar Ansari, who is currently lodged in Ropar Jail, by not handing over his custody to the Uttar Pradesh Police.
Joshi said that even the UP government on Wednesday had told the Supreme Court that the Punjab government is “shamelessly protecting” BSP MLA Mukhtar Ansari by not handing over his custody to face trial “in 10 heinous cases of murder, extortion, cheating, fraud” and “gangster acts” in the special court for MPs and MLAs in Allahabad.
Joshi asserted that these things have exposed the double-face of Punjab CM. “I would like to tell Capt. Amarinder to stop indulging in such acts to fulfill his political agenda”, concluded Joshi.
