DC Kargil stresses for soil health management for enhanced productivity

KARGIL, MARCH 27, 2021: Deputy Commissioner and CEO, LAHDC Kargil Santosh Sukhadeve stressed on importance of soil health card and soil health management for overall increase in both production and productivity of all agricultural crops grown in Kargil district.

The Deputy Commissioner stated this while addressing farmers during a farmers’ training camp organized by the Department of Agriculture Kargil under National Mission for Sustainable Agriculture (NMSA) at Kurbathang here today.

DC Santosh Sukhadeve also urged farmers to adopt the latest innovations and technologies at farm level for cultivating cash crops for improving their socio-economic conditions through agriculture sector.

On the occasion, DC Santosh Sukhadeve also distributed the best farmer awards among the progressive farmers from different zones under ATMA scheme.

Meanwhile, Chief Agriculture Officer Kargil Muhammad Ali Khan while speaking on the occasion stressed farmers to implement the soil test results for soil fertility management at farm level and to increase their farm production.

Other speakers including the Senior Scientists KVK-I Dr Ghulam Mehdi, SNO UT Ladakh Muhammad Hussain Khan, DAOI Ashiq Hussain, DAO Extension Muhammad Iqbal, SMS Razia Banoo, DNO Muhammad Issa, SDAO Muhammad Hussain Akhone, AEO Muhammad Ali Yabgo, AEO Muhammad Abass, RA Rinchan Dolkar besides other officers, officials and field staff of the department were also present and imparted training on balanced use of fertilizers, importance of soil testing in soil health management, importance of balanced fertilizers use in crop productivity and soil health management, sampling methods and importance of organic manures and bio fertilizers in balanced nutrition.
