DC Ramban reviews progress of widening work; maintenance of existing road

RAMBAN, MAY 28: Deputy Commissioner, Ramban,  Mussarat Islam today reviewed the progress on prestigious NH-44   four laning project  besides maintenance and Macadamization   work on existing highway, here at a meeting.
Addl. Deputy Commissioner (Collector, National Highway), Harbans Lal; Project Director, NHAI, Parshotam Kumar; Project Director GAMMON Company, several other senior officers and representatives of construction companies besides local contractors also attended the meeting.
The DC reviewed section wise progress on   four-laning of Jammu-Srinagar National Highway including Nashri-Ramban and Ramban-Banihal  sections,  besides reviewing local issues hindering pace of progress.
While discussing some local issues, the DC directed construction agencies to resolve the same with locals amicably. He directed them to implement directions of Lieutenant Governor to provide maximum job opportunities to locals in ongoing national projects.
The DC directed the construction agencies to complete Macadamization work from Nashri to Banihal and install Crash Barrier at all vulnerable locations to minimize mishaps besides ensuring smooth passage for traffic by making proper maintenance of NH44 at all crucial places.
Later, DDC Chairperson, Ramban, Shamshad Shan also joined the meeting and sought early completion of the four-laning project for the convenience of the people.
Earlier, representatives of construction agencies highlighted bottlenecks and issues hindering the pace of progress. The DC resolved most of the issues on the spot by passing directions to concerned agencies.
Taking into account the importance of the National Highway widening project, the DC assured construction agencies full cooperation from District Administration to complete the national project as early as possible.
