DOUBLED PENSION AMOUNT WOULD EMPOWER THE BENEFICIARIES –DC VARINDER KUMAR SHARMA
EVENT SIMULTANEOUSLY HELD AT 31 LOCATIONS OF LUDHIANA

Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma on Tuesday kick-started the process of disbursing doubled social security pension from Rs 750 to Rs 1500 to 2,52,459 beneficiaries including old-age, widow, destitute children and specially-abled in Ludhiana.
Among a total of 252459 eligible beneficiaries, Ludhiana has 13939 beneficiaries under Financial Assistance to Destitute Children, 16335 beneficiaries under Financial Assistance to Disabled Persons, 54433 Financial Assistance to Widows and 167577 old-age beneficiaries.
Accompanied by Punjab Medium Industrial Development Board Chairman Amarjeet Singh Tikka, Zila Parishad Chairman Yadwinder Singh Jandiali, MC Councillor Mamta Ashu, Additional Deputy Commissioner (D) Amit Kumar Panchal, ADC Khanna Sakkatar Singh, Assistant Commissioner Dr Harjinder Singh Bedi, the Deputy Commissioner said that Punjab Government today has fulfilled its promise made to the people in its manifesto by providing the social security pension to the tune of Rs 1500 per beneficiary per month. They told that the hiked amount would help the beneficiaries a lot.
They assured that each eligible beneficiary in the district would get a pension and no beneficiary would be deprived of his or her benefit. They said that the objective of the enhancing amount is to empower all the beneficiaries as they are also an integral part of society.
They reiterated that the state government led by Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh is committed to creating an atmosphere for the overall upliftment of all the beneficiaries.
The same event was held simultaneously at 31 locations of Ludhiana where a total of 5742 beneficiaries have received the cheque of enhanced pension amount whereas the amount would be disbursed through Direct Benefit Transfer system to the remaining beneficiaries into their bank accounts.
Two beneficiaries of old-aged pension scheme Avtar Singh (74) and Paramjeet Kaur (72) thanked the state government for increasing the amount from Ra 750 to Rs 1500 and said that this would definitely help them to deal the inflation to some extent.
Prominent among present on the occasion included District Social Security Officer Inderpreet Kaur, District Program Officer Gulbahar Singh and others.
