Dedicated efforts will be made to bring sugar mills out of losses, Dr. Banwari Lal

Chandigarh, October 11 –  Haryana Cooperation Minister, Dr. Banwari Lal said that the work of setting up ethanol plants at Panipat and Karnal Sugar Mills would be started soon. Besides this, the capacity of the ethanol plant will also be increased in Shahabad.

        Ethanol plants will be set up in all sugar mills of the state so that sugar mills can be saved from potential financial losses. The financial well-being of sugar mills is very important for ensuring the prosperity of the farmers, said Dr. Banwari Lal while presiding over a review meeting held with departmental officers here today.

        He said that ten Sugarfed sugar mills and one sugar mill of HAFED are currently functioning in the state. In these sugar mills, the work of crushing will be started in the first week of next month.  The work of repair and maintenance of sugar mills is being done so that there is crushing of sugarcane can be done smoothly, said Dr. Banwari Lal.

        “Technical glitches in sugar mills during crushing season certainly cause inconvenience to the farmers. Therefore, required arrangements are being ensured that no sugar mill is closed during the crushing season,” added Dr. Banwari Lal.

        He said that ethanol plants to be set up in sugar mills should be expedited and ethanol plants would be made operational in the sugar mills of Panipat and Karnal by the year 2024. He said that ethanol plants would be set up by forming clusters of sugar mills, under which plants of big and small mills would be jointly set up.

        The Cooperation Minister said that a milk plant would be set up in South Haryana. For this, all the formalities have been completed. He also reviewed the Tetrapack plant to be set up in Rohtak Milk Plant and gave necessary directions to the officers concerned.

The work of setting up tertrapack plant should be expedited. Apart from butter, other food items like milk, curd, ice cream etc. will be made in this Plant. Along with this, dry milk powder will be made if the milk is available in additional quantity, said Dr. Banwari Lal.

        Additional Chief Secretary, Cooperation Department, Sh. T.V.S.N Prasad, Registrar, Cooperative Societies, Dr. Shaleen, Managing Director, HARCO Bank, Naresh Goyal and many senior officers were present in the meeting.
