“SHARE FACTS ON DRUGS, SAVE LIVES” DEDICATED TO THE INTERNATIONAL DAY AGAINST DRUG ABUSE & ILLICIT TRAFFICKING

To acknowledge the significance of “International Day Against Drug Abuse & Illicit Trafficking ” Deputy Commissioner, Ludhiana Varinder Kumar Sharma today launched a special potrait depicting the theme 2021, “Share the Facts on Drugs and Save Lives” dedicated to the International Day Against Drug Day & Illicit Trafficking i.e. June 26, portrait prepared by City Lawyer & Author Harpreet Sandhu.
Deputy Commissioner Ludhiana, Varinder Kumar Sharma, while launching the poster stated that drug abuse is one of the most serious health problems. It is also a psycho-social evil that destroys the vitals of the society and leads to its overall downfall. International days and weeks are occasions to educate the general public on issues of genuine concern. Today being International Day against Drug Abuse, we all need to show determination to achieve the goal of a society free from drug abuse.
DC Ludhiana further said that the future of every society is dependent on the quality and potential of its youth, but today drug abuse is becoming a major challenge so, the respective Parents and the Teachers of the educational institutions also need to focus and guide the youth that drug use is wrong, dangerous and a serious offence and it may ruin their lives. Deputy Commissioner Ludhiana appreciated the sincere efforts of Harpreet Sandhu, advocate for initiating this good cause on International Drug Abuse Day & Illicit Trafficking Day.
Harpreet Sandhu said that Ludhiana under the able administration of Deputy Commissioner Ludhiana has already implemented positive steps to curb drug abuse, by way of reinforcing strong disciplinary measures but the results can be more positive if we all contribute equally towards this genuine concern. NGO’s must also come forward for counseling, treatment, rehabilitation of drug addicts and generate awareness within citizens of Ludhiana about ill effects of drug abuse.
