The General Manager of District Industries Centre, Amritsar on behalf of the district administration, informed that they are organizing an awareness camp on ‘ Pardhan Mantri Formalization of Micro Food Processing Enterprises Scheme’(PMFME Scheme)’ on February 22, 2024 at Punjab Agro Industries corporation’ Primary Processing Centre (PPC) at National Highway Jalandhar Bypass, near Verka Chowk, Amritsar. He also informed that the scheme was launched by Ministry of Food Processing Industries, Govt. of India in June 2020 with a total outlay of Rs. 10,000 Cr. to be incurred over a period of 5 years (2020-2025). He added that the scheme is aimed to enhance the competitiveness of micro food processing enterprises and promoting formalization of the sector.
Punjab Agro Industries Corporation (PAIC) is the State Nodal Agency for this scheme. Over 2,000 micro food processing enterprises (both existing and new) have been sanctioned a capital subsidy of a total Rs. 171 Cr. for a total investment of over Rs. 790 Cr. To educate entrepreneurs, youths etc. aware about the scheme an ‘awareness camp’ has been organized on February 22, 2024 at the above location. Therefore, food processing industries/farmers/youths are requested to come forward to take advantage of this scheme and set up their own business ventures or upgrade their existing units.
