Quarterly meeting of District Legal Services Authority, SAS Nagar for quarter ending 31.12.2023 was held today under the Chairmanship of Sh. Harpal Singh, District & Sessions Judge, SAS Nagar. It was attended by Sh. Avtar Singh, Additional District & Sessions Judge-I, Ms. Surabhi Prashar, Secretary, DLSA, SAS Nagar, Sh. Anish Goyal, Chief Judicial Magistrate, SAS Nagar, Sh. Inder Pal, CMFO, Ms. Rupinderdeep Kaur, DSP (Headquarter), Sh. Satnam Singh, District Attorney, SAS Nagar, Sh. Ravi Inder Singh, DPRO, Sh. S.K. Sinha, Advocate and Sh. Jaspal Singh Dappar, Chairman, Adhoc Committee, District Bar Association, SAS Nagar.
In the meeting, the work done by DLSA, SAS Nagar during previous quarter was assessed. Sh. Harpal Singh, District & Sessions Judge, SAS Nagar informed that legal services were provided to 405 legal aid seekers during the last quarter. To settle the cases through mediation, 297 cases were referred to the Mediation Centre. Besides this, sensitization programmes in the last quarter were organized for investigating officers for compliance of directions of Hon’ble Supreme Court of India regarding legal aid to the persons at pre arrest, arrest and remand stage. Sensitization programme was also organized for Special Juvenile Police Officers for adhering to the rules of Juvenile Justice (Care & Protection of Children) Act, 2015.
It was also revealed during the Meeting that upcoming National Lok Adalat shall be held on 09.03.2024 in which Criminal Compoundable Offences, NI Act cases under Section-138, Bank Recovery Cases, MACT Cases, Matrimonial Disputes, Labour disputes, Land Acquisition cases, Electricity and Water Bills (Excluding non-compoundable theft cases), Service matters relating to pay and allowances and retiral benefits, Revenue Cases and other Civil Cases (Rent, Easmentary Rights, Injunction Suits, Specific Performance suits) etc. shall be taken up.
