Dry run for COVID-19 vaccination conducted in Kargil
KARGIL, JANUARY 08, 2021: As a part of the nation-wide dry run to assess the readiness of the mechanism laid out for the COVID-19 immunization drive, a dry run for roll out of 1st phase of COVID-19 vaccination for Health Workers was conducted at 3 venues in the district here today which included Government Girls Higher Secondary School Kargil, Community Health Center (CHC) Drass and Primary Health Center (PHC) Shargole.
At Government Girls Higher Secondary School Kargil, the mock drill was conducted in presence of the Executive Councilor for Health, Muhammad Ali Chandan, Incharge Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Kargil, Dr Kacho Liyaqat Ali and District Immunization Officer (DIO), Kargil Dr Muhammad Abass.
Community Health Officer Aga Muhammad Shah besides vaccination team beneficiaries, health care workers, Ashas and Anganwadi Workers and media persons were present on the occasion.
The objective of the dry run for COVID-19 vaccine introduction is to assess operational feasibility in the use of COVID Vaccine Intelligence Network (Co-WIN) application in field environment, to test the linkages between planning and implementation and to identify the challenges and guide the way forward prior to actual implementation.
During the occasion, EC Chandan appreciated the Health Department Kargil for smooth conduct and arrangement of dry run for first phase of COVID-19 vaccination in Kargil district.
Meanwhile, the DIO Kargil informed that as a part of the nationwide dry run for COVID-19 vaccination, a total of 75 beneficiaries selected from the Co-WIN platform participated in the mock drills conducted at the 3 venues.
The DIO further stated that the Co-WIN platform is being used to know the details of beneficiaries and all necessary preparations are being put in place for implementation of the vaccination drive when it actually starts.
During the mock drive, the beneficiary was asked to sit in the waiting room where his/her details were checked, then he/she was sent to the vaccination room where vaccination shot was given and he/she was asked to sit in the observation room for 30 minutes mandatorily so that any untoward conditions could be avoided.
Moreover, the beneficiaries were made to enter the waiting room, vaccination room and observation room through separate entry and exit points.
