Executive Councillor, Sheep, Tashi Namgyal Yakzee today flagged off subsidized livestock feed to 54 villages of Changthang and other blocks of Leh district, in presence of Deputy Commissioner, Leh, Shrikant Suse; Councillor Chushul, Konchok Stanzin and District Sheep Husbandry Officer (DSHO) Leh, Dr Tundup Namgail.

It was informed that 2600 quintals of cattle feed were procured under the District Non-plan Subsidy component and the feeds would be distributed to the livestock rearing households of Leh district to help them meet the shortage of pasture grazing in winters. This procurement represents one of the many strategies of the government to support the critical primary sector on which many households in remote areas are solely dependent for their livelihood.
