KARGIL, MAY 08, 2021: Executive Councilor for Tourism and Zanskar Affairs Er Phunsok Tashi convened a meeting of the officers of the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) related to the infrastructural and other developmental works on the Kargil-Zanskar Highway NH-301 at Council Secretariat here today.
General Manager, PMU Kargil NHIDCL, Colonel Ashwani Kumar, Land Acquisition Consultant Yousuf Bhat besides the members of the engineering team of NHIDCL were present during the meeting.
EC Phunsok Tashi directed the officers concerned for maintenance of the national highway by ensuring timely deployment of men and machinery during the current working season. He also directed them to remain in preparedness for clearance of snow from the Kargil-Zanskar National Highway during the coming winter season either by engaging Mechanical Department Kargil or any other executing agency.
EC Tashi was informed that work on the Kargil-Zanskar National Highway has been divided into 8 phases, out of which 5 have been tendered and allotted to the contracting agencies, adding the works will resume in near future.
The meeting was further informed that land acquisition for the beautification and construction of highway and compensation is also under process.
The officers concerned further informed the EC that formal handing over of NH-301 from PWD Zanskar and Suru Valley division to NHIDCL is also under process.
