FDA teams raided four districts in three days – Health Minister

Cases will be filed under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act – Vij

Chandigarh, April 22  – Haryana Health and Family Welfare Minister, Sh. Anil Vij, who also holds the charge of Haryana Food and Drug Administration, said that under the campaign to tighten the noose around the chemists selling drugs illegally without license, the teams of Food and Drug Administration conducted raids in two districts – Rewari and Sonipat. During the raids samples of various medicines were taken and other documents were confiscated.

He said that during the raids at the Skin Laser, Cosmetic Surgery and Hair Transplant Clinic run by Dr. Smita Kashyap in Model Town of Rewari, the FDA team found Vikas Yadav for selling medicines on doctor’s prescription over the counter. He said that the team took samples of 5 types of medicines on display for testing and took possession 15 types of medicines under Form-16. According to the team, sales bills were also being issued to patients from the shop without a license and the team has also recovered 34 such sales bills from the spot.

The Health Minister said that under this campaign raids were conducted on illegal shops in Sonipat. Dudeja ENT Hospital Delhi Road, Sonipat and Royal Dental Hospital run by Dr. Gaurav were raided. Director of Dudeja ENT Hospital, Dr. S.L. Dudeja said that Veena Grover sells medicines on prescription giving by him and collects money. The departmental team also took possession of 12 types of medicines as evidence for investigation on the spot. The team also recovered OPD register and purchase bill of medicines from the spot as evidence. At the same time, Royal Dental Hospital found an open unlicensed shop selling medicines on the prescription of a doctor named Chirag, who is Class 12th pass. Doctor Gaurav has kept him on a salary of Rs. 15,000 per month.  The team seized samples of 12 types of medicines from the spot.  Seven other doctors also came to practice at the Royal Dental Clinic and medicines were being given on prescription which is illegal. The team has also recovered sales bills, purchase bills and OPD registers from the spot.

He said that under this campaign, raids are going on at Shri Krishna Hospital, Karnal Road, Kaithal and Popli Nursing and Chest Clinic, Pehwa Chowk, Kaithal in Kaithal city today.  At both the places, the sale of medicines has been found on the counters of open illegal medical stores. In this series, proceedings are going on in Rohtak and Meham as well, under which raids are being conducted at unlicensed shops running in Kundu Clinic in Sector-1 of Rohtak and illegal shop running in Deepanjali Hospital in Meham.

Sh. Vij said that strict action would be taken against the doctors indulging in such illegal practices. He said that the department is committed to make available quality medicines at reasonable prices to the public.  He also warned the blood centres operators not to organize outdoor camps without approval and provide the information to the Food and Drug Administration department as per rules, otherwise legal action would be taken against them.
