Feroz Khan reviews arrangements for Ladakh Winter Conclave, 2021

KARGIL, FEBRUARY 19, 2021: Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC, Kargil Feroz Ahmad Khan convened a meeting to review the arrangements for the various programmes to be held in Kargil  in connection with the Ladakh Winter Carnival, 2021 which is being held simultaneously in Leh and Kargil districts.

Executive Councillor for Tourism Er Phunsok Tashi, Additional Deputy Commissioner Kargil Tsering Motup, Councillor Choskore Nassir Hussain Munshi, AD Tourism Aga Syed Taha, Executive Engineer PDD Altaf Hussain, Executive Officer MC Kargil Shafaqat Ali Khan, District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Kargil Muhammad Hussain Rehnuma, District Cultural Officer, Kargil Muhammad Ali Tak, President All Kargil Travel Trade Association (AKTTA), Ashraf Ali, President Ladakh Adventure Sports, Shahnawaz Habib Var, representative of Hoteliers Association Hassnain Rangyul besides other concerned officers were present during the meeting.

During the course of the meeting, EC Tourism Er Phunsog Tashi informed the CEC that as a part of the upcoming winter conclave, guests associated with the tourism sector are arriving in the district besides a number of activities related to the promotion are being held in the district.

CEC, Kargil Feroz Ahmad Khan while addressing the meeting instructed the officers concerned to ensure that all necessary arrangements like conveyance of guests from Leh to Kargil and back and tourist spots, boarding and lodging of the guests, panel discussions, interactions, cultural programmes, sightseeing and other related arrangements should be foolproof for successful conduct of the 3 day event.

 Threadbare discussion was held during the meeting about the arrangements made so far besides other required arrangements to be put n place.

The meeting also discussed the possibilities for organizing of soccer on snow at the Linkipal Slopes and snow walk at Drass.

Earlier, giving details about the detailed programme for 3 days from 20th to 23rd February, 2021, AD Tourism Aga Syed Taha informed the meeting that guests including prominent tour operators, travel agents, members of the All Domestic Tour Operators of India, bloggers, travel journalists and film makers from Maharashtra, Gujarat, Delhi, West Bengal, UT J&K and other states are arriving in Kargil on 20th February, 2021 who would be given a traditional welcome at Mulbekh followed by colorful cultural programme and tour of the world famous Maitreya Buddha Statue with briefing by guides.

Regarding other activities, the AD Tourism informed that the Ladakh Winter Carnival, 2021 in Kargil will be inaugurated at Goshan Drass where Ice Hockey exhibition matches will also be held, adding that the subsequent activities of the 1st day would involve a visit of the guests to the Mushkoo Valley and the Kargil War Memorial Drass followed by visit to the Handurman border heritage village and a heritage walk of the historic Balti Bazar later in the evening.

The meeting was further informed that activities on 22nd and 23rd February, 2021 will comprise of snow skiing demo at Linkipal Slopes, visit to the Maitreya Buddha Statue at Karchay Khar, shrine of prominent Islamic scholar Syed Mir Hashim at Karpo Khar and Purkichay for sight-seeing of the world famous Nun and Kun peaks, adding that interactions, panel discussions, PPTs, cultural programmes and traditional costume show later in the evening followed by a trip to the Aryan Valleys of Darchiks Garkone and Chiktan area where cultural programme will also be organized at Garkone Changrah.

The CEC stressed all concerned officers to make coordinated and concerted efforts to ensure that all arrangements are made timely so that the 3 day tourism promotion event is conducted in a smooth and successful manner.
