First of its kind online Interactive Session between School teachers of Haryana and Australia on Best Practices in Teaching in COVID-19 Situation held
Chandigarh, December 11: Haryana Government led by Chief Minister, Manohar Lal has time and again proved that education has always remained utmost priority of the State Government as even in the State Budget 2020-21, Chief Minister, who is also Finance Minister had announced the highest ever allocation for the Education Sector.
While, with an objective to understand and share the ways and methods through which teaching has been and is being imparted remotely using innovative ways in ongoing scenario due to impact of COVID-19, Haryana’s Foreign Cooperation Department (FCD) in collaboration with Association of Haryanvis in Australia (AHA) today organized first of its kind online interactive session between school teachers of Haryana and Australia on best practices in teaching in COVID-19 situation.
More than 200 teachers from district Faridabad and Haryanvi diaspora teachers who are currently teaching in Australia attended the session; shared their teaching practices during the new normal for learning amid the present challenges.
Appreciating the initiative of conducting the Inaugural Session, in a series of virtual interactive sessions, between school teachers in Haryana and Australia, Advisor to Chief Minister and Principal Secretary, Foreign Cooperation Department, Yogender Chaudhry said that this step would certainly help in promoting education and ensuring strong links with Haryanvi diaspora.
“The Foreign Cooperation Department (FCD) created by the State Government is looking after wide-ranging issues pertaining, inter alia, to promoting education. To this end, the FCD is entering into meaningful engagements with various organizations, both in India as well as abroad”, said Yogender Chaudhry.
Speaking on the occasion, Director General, Elementary Education and Secretary School Education Department, Nitin Kumar Yadav said that with education moving on virtual platform amid COVID-19 pandemic, even the Haryana Government has started various e-learning platforms and distance education through television so as to ensure that students do not suffer academically till the situation returns to normal. Even in pre COVID times, several initiatives were taken by the State Government to improve the quality of education and the commitment of Chief Minister to bringing reforms in the education sector will continue in future as well, said Nitin Kumar Yadav.
He further shared that in a bid to make the children aware about the precautions to be taken against the COVID-19, special campaign named, COVID-19 Appropriate Behaviour along with extensive Information, Education and Communication (IEC) activities have also been undertaken by the State Government. Besides this, special steps were also taken including a dedicated helpline that was launched for those suffering from anxiety and other mental health related issues.
Director General -cum- Secretary, Foreign Cooperation Department, Haryana, Anant Prakash Pandey, while appreciating the encouraging participation of teachers from both sides, added that such interactive sessions would help in mutual sharing of learning experiences especially the innovative and technological interventions that have proven to be useful in effectively imparting education to students during pandemic times. He further added that such interactive sessions would be organized by Foreign Cooperation Department in all districts of Haryana in the coming days.
During the session, several Principals and teachers from schools in Faridabad district and Haryanvi diaspora teachers who are currently teaching in Australia shared their teaching experiences and initiatives taken by them for shifting from physical classrooms to online classes during pandemic times.
Deputy Commissioner, Faridabad, Yashpal Yadav, Deputy Secretary, Foreign Cooperation Department, Bhupendra Singh, District Education Officer, Faridabad, Satinder Kaur, Deputy Chief Operating Officer BIPP, Pawan Kumar, and Sewa Singh, Founding President, AHA, Australia were among the others who attended the online interactive session.
