KARGIL, JUNE 22, 2021: Department of Commerce, Government Degree College (GDC) Drass organized a webinar on the theme- Basics of Investment in Capital Market in collaboration with Central Depository Services (India) Limited (CDSL) and Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) today.
The webinar was organised with the objective to enlighten students about the Capital Market and various options available for investment in the Capital Market.
Sabzar Ahmad, CSDL-IPF was the resource person on the occasion while Inderjeet Singh, Regional Head CDSL and Harbinder Singh, Manager BSE were the keynote speakers.
During the session, Manager BSE Harbinder Singh said that we need to start investing early in right assets, and should make a habit of saving regularly. He said that saving a small amount regularly, and investing the same will benefit the investor in long term.
He also talked about the Stock Market and explained briefly about Primary Stock Market and Secondary Stock Market and said that in order to make investment, certain fundamentals should be kept into consideration for good returns, adding he explained about asset management company, Mutual Funds and Systematic Investment Plan (SIP) in detail.
Regional Head CDSL, Inderjeet Singh made a detailed introduction about Central Depository Services (India) Limited (CDSL) and its functioning. He said that CDSL maintains the DEMAT Account and through DEMAT Account an investor can transfer his shares. He further said that DEMAT Account is required for nomination and one can pledge on the basis of DEMAT Account, adding he underlined different services provided by CDSL like KYC, EASI (Electronic Access To Securities Information), SMART (SMS Alert Related To Transactions) , e-CAS, e-Locker, e-Voting etc.
Earlier, Dr Amjad Ali Abassi, Principal GDC Drass while welcoming the keynote speakers, resource persons and all participants emphasized the relevance and importance of capital market, and advised the students to take maximum benefit from the webinar. He further appreciated the organizers for their efforts in organizing the webinar, and also thanked the speakers for giving time for the students of GDC, Drass.
More than 100 students and faculty members participated in the webinar which was jointly hosted by Shujat Ali Mir, Assistant Professor Commerce and Mustafa Ali, Director Physical Education and Sports.
