Department of Physics Govt. Degree College, Drass in collaboration with NASI Jammu Chapter, organized a special program today to commemorate National Space Day. Recently the Union Government designated to celebrate National Space Day annually on August 23. This day honors India’s remarkable achievements in space exploration.
The program commenced with a two-minute silence to pay homage to the victims of the tragic bus accident at Durbuk, Leh on August 22.Following this, Nahida Parveen, a third-semester student, delivered the formal welcome address. She introduced this year’s theme, “Touching Lives while Touching the Moon: India’s Space Saga,” highlighting the profound impact of India’s space missions on everyday life and national pride.
The keynote lecture was delivered by Rizwan Ali, Assistant Professor of Physics, who provided an insightful overview of India’s illustrious space journey. He discussed in detail the milestones achieved through missions such as Chandrayaan, Mangalyaan, and the upcoming Gaganyaan project.
He emphasized the significant contributions of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) to the nation’s development, elaborating on how space missions have been instrumental in advancing technology, communication, and disaster management, thereby profoundly benefiting humanity.
The event featured engaging talks, presentations, and discussions that shed light on the latest developments in space science and technology. Participants were inspired by India’s space success stories and were encouraged to contribute to the nation’s burgeoning endeavors in space exploration.
The program successfully provided a platform for students, researchers, and faculty members to explore and appreciate the advancements in space science, fostering a spirit of curiosity and innovation among the attendees.
The program was concluded with words of appreciation by Incharge Principal Mohd Hassan, who thanked the Department of Physics for observing the day that is fundamental in motivating the students towards technological and spatial advancements of the country.
