Government Degree College, (GDC) Nobra in collaboration with the Police Station of Nubra, Ladakh Police conducted an awareness programme on Cyber Crime on the occasion of ‘Cyber Jagrookta Diwas’ at GDC Nobra. Head Constable. Police Station, Diskit Nubra, Ghulam Mohd was the resource person invited for the event.

In his welcome speech, Principal GDC Nobra, Dr Tsewang Motup advised the students to remain alert while performing online transactions. He highlighted the importance of online security in today’s world owing to the various threats posed by hackers and vested interests in the virtual spaces. He cautioned the students to be very careful while using social media and urged them to make others aware of the online threats and safety measures. He stressed that as a citizen we must cooperate with the police to check all kinds of crime and to keep an eye on the antisocial elements.
The resource person Ghulam Mohd informed that the Cyber Jagrookta Diwas is observed to spread awareness and to sensitise the public about the various crimes committed through different social media platforms like Facebook, Whatsapp and Instagram. He instructed the students about the ways and means of safeguarding themselves from concerns like cyberbullying, harassment, fake identity, account hacking and other cyber-crimes.
He urged the participants to be careful and alert while using digital banking and other online platforms to avoid falling into the trap of online fraud.
A question-and-answer session was also held between the resource person and the participants regarding the same.
Convenor, Discipline Committee, Dr Jigmet Lhadol, who is also Assistant Professor Chemistry, conducted the programme.
