The Admission and Career Counselling Committee of Government Degree College (GDC) Nubra conducted a week-long (March 8 to 12) ‘Career Counselling and Admission Drive’ at Tyakshi, Turtuk, Bogdang, Partapur, Diskit and Sumoor Higher Secondary Schools of Nubra sub-division under the guidance of Principal, GDC Nubra, Dr Tsewang Motup.

The counselling primarily focused on the recently passed-out students of the 10th and 12th classes of the region. The counselling team encouraged the 12th passed students to take admission in the Govt. Degree College, Nubra to improve the enrolment rate and strengthen the only higher education institution of the sub-division.
Assistant Professor, Environmental Science, Tsewang Lhamo giving a brief history of the college highlighted the different challenges faced in the initial years, such as delay in examination and result declaration, when it was affiliated to Kashmir University. She added that those issues are resolved with its affiliation to the University of Ladakh.
Assistant Professor, Botany, Dr Tsetan Dolkar shared the career opportunities in the discipline of science and Assistant Professor, Political Science, Sabah Sharif explained the career prospects in Humanities, including higher studies and research. College Director of Physical Education, Sonam Chosphail gave a detailed presentation on the career opportunities in Physical Education and some of the best physical education institutions in India.
Later, Assistant Professor, Sociology, Dr Stanzin Namgail stressed the importance of participation in the various co-curricular activities, especially focusing on the NCC and NSS. He also highlighted the various co-curricular activities conducted in the 2021-22 session in GDC, Nubra.
