GMDC Zanskar completes fourth day of biological tour

Kargil, July 06 :- 
The students of Government Model Degree College Zanskar completed the fourth day of the week-long biological tour to study the flora and fauna of Kargil district.
On the fourth day of the tour, so after checking out from Dag Bungalow at Garkhon, the students interacted with the people about the culture and vegetation.
Dr Akbar Khan and Stanzin Dadul guided the students with additional information as and when needed. The students learned about grapes cultivation and apricots.
They found it interesting to see that because of the steep topography of the land, the people of Garkhon are making a great of the little amount of land they have.
The team left for Mulbek and stopped at Chiktan to see the vegetation of the region. They saw the strategies used by plants to make pollination more efficient, especially when the pollinator is an insect.
The night stay was at Springdale’s Public School, Mulbek where the students interacted with the principal of the school Tsewang Norbu. They learned about passive solar technology while building homes and thus reducing the carbon footprint. They also interacted with the teachers of the school to exchange ideas.
