Haryana all set to complete the work under PMGSY-III
Chandigarh, April 1: In a bid to further strengthen the Road network in Haryana and to ease increasing traffic congestion for the convenience of commuters, Haryana Government is spending Rs. 383.58 crore for the Up-gradation of 83 roads with a cumulative length of 688.94 Km under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY)-III in the State. Out of 688kms, 200kms of road length has been completed and the remaining length will be completed by the end of the Financial Year 2021-22.
Divulging more details in this regard, an official spokesperson said that the PMGSY-III Scheme announced in July 2019 and formally inaugurated by Minister of Rural Development, Sh. Narendra Singh Tomar on December 17, 2019. For Haryana an indicative allocation of the length of 2500 Kms has been made by the Ministry for five year period, up-to 2019-2024.
Acknowledging Haryana’s progress Rs. 549.51 crore sanctioned for 120 number roads
The Spokesperson said that while acknowledging Haryana’s swiftness towards completing their target set under the PMGSY, the Ministry of Rural Development on March 5, 2021, has sanctioned 120 number roads with a length of 1216.95 Kms amounting to Rs. 549.51 crore(Centre Share: Rs.328.43 crore, State Share: Rs.221.08 crore.) under Batch-II. Tender for all the works in Batch II has been floated and works will be allotted by May 15, 2021, he said.
The spokesperson said that for remaining 600kms, proposals scrutiny is under process and it is expected that approval for these proposals from the Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India will be received by June 30, 2021.
Three Tier Quality Management System being followed
The spokesperson informed that a Three-Tier Quality Management System is being followed as per guidelines of PMGSY. Besides this, time to time Inspection of roads are being conducted by the Executive Engineer, Sub Divisional Engineers and Junior Engineers would be done under Tire-I. In Tire-II State Quality Monitors are appointed by the State. Inspections of roads are to be conducted by the SQMS as allocated by the State and in Tire-III National Quality monitors are appointed at the Ministry level/NRRDA.
He further shared that for all the works in the past and present, regular inspection of roads are being conducted. If the road condition is not found satisfactory or if any improvement is required then the State Government seeks the Action Taken Report from the concerned PIU/Division. As on date there is no pending Action Taken Report, he added.
Plastic waste to be used for road upgradation
The Spokesperson said that a new technology of using Plastic waste will be used for upgrading (repair, widening, strengthening) of these roads, due to which the quality of the roads will increase and the public can avail the facilities of these roads for a longer period.
