Haryana Government launches Marriage Registration Portal as part of the Good Governance initiatives
Chandigarh, December 3
Haryana Government has launched a dedicated Marriage Registration Portal as part of the Good Governance initiatives. The marriage registration service operating from the SARAL portal up till now will be available on the URL https://shaadi.edisha.gov.in from December 3, 2020 onwards.
Giving information in this regard, an official spokesperson said that the process for the marriage registration will remain the same as before, with addition of some new features to enhance citizen convenience.
He said that there are two key additional features in the new portal. The first relates to linking of the Parivar Pehchan Patra (PPP) Id or the ‘Family Id’. At the time of filling the application, the first information to be provided by the applicant will be their ‘Family ID’, he added. He said that based on the ‘Family ID’, the data for the Bride or Groom will be retrieved from the family details in PPP database, in case their respective family currently resides in Haryana. In case the respective family belongs to Haryana, but does not have PPP or Family Id, they (Bride or Groom) would need to first get the Family Id created and then come back to register on the marriage portal, he added.
He said that the second new feature in the portal is regarding option of booking an appointment with the marriage registrar for the purpose of physical presence, as required by Marriage Registration Act. This will reduce the waiting times for the Bride, Groom and witnesses, he added. He said that a well defined timeline for appointments has been a long standing request of the citizens.
He said that there would be a mandatory gap of four days between the date of submission of application and date of appointment for physical presence. This period would be utilized by the marriage registrar for scrutiny of documents submitted with the application, he added. He said that in case some discrepancies are found in the application or documents, the applicant will be informed regarding the same by the marriage registrar office via telephonic communication. This has also been done to reduce the number of citizens’ visits to the registrar office, thereby eliminating another source of inconvenience to them in the earlier process, he added.
He said that Deputy Commissioners (DCs) and Additional Deputy Commissioners (ADCs) have been notified regarding the operation of marriage registration process. Further queries on this subject may be made by calling CRID helpdesk: 1800 200 0023 or by emailing [email protected], he added. He said that citizens may also visit the DC or ADC office in their respective districts.
