Chandigarh, June 12 – Haryana Government’s pragmatic approach towards COVID-19 Vaccination Roll Out has ensured impartial penetration of vaccine in both its rural and urban areas and it is among the few states in the country to have administered the COVID-19 vaccine to a robust percentage of population of its state.
This has been possible due to the State Government’s comprehensive planning and rational approach which has ensured maximum administration of doses in the state.
Sharing information in this regard, an official spokesperson of the Health Department said that the State Government aims to vaccinate each and every eligible beneficiary at the earliest and has formulated plans for the same.
He elaborated that the state has successfully administered the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine to 82 per cent of Health Care Workers (HCWs) and 82 per cent of Frontline Workers (FLWs) which is even higher than the national average of 81 per cent. On the status of vaccine administered to priority groups the spokesperson said that 2,15,077 HCWs have been administered the first dose while 1,36,945 HCWs have been administered the second dose and 1,97,014 FLWs have been administered the first dose and 81,163 FLWs have been administered the second dose. Sharing information on vaccine administered to beneficiaries above 18 years of age the spokesperson said that 49,23,914 beneficiaries have been administered the first dose of vaccine and 8,58,986 beneficiaries have been administered the second dose of the vaccine.
Divulging more details with regard to administration of vaccine the spokesperson said that the state flaunts a high percentage of administration of first dose of COVID-19 vaccine to priority groups – HCWs and FLWs – while the percentage of administration of second dose of the vaccine for HCWs is 50 per cent and for FLWs it is 37 per cent.
Elaborating on it he said that the administration of second dose of the vaccine to the priority groups is presently 50 per cent and 37 per cent as it is to be administered after duration of 12 to 16 weeks of administration of first dose. He said the Vaccine Rollout commenced on January 16, 2021 and thus the duration of 16 weeks for the second dose is yet to be completed for a section of HCWs and FLWs. The spokesperson further said that the Department is expecting more supply of COVID-19 vaccine and will thereafter ensure vaccination of all beneficiaries above 18 years on priority basis.
He stated that the officers of the Health Department are working diligently to improve the coverage of second dose, against the registered beneficiaries of HCWs & FLWs. To ensure this directive has been issued to the concerned authorities at district level and same will be communicated in video conference, he added. Besides this, list of beneficiaries of second dose has already been shared with all district officials to improve second dose coverage.
Moreover, general instructions have been given to all ASHAs and other concerned officials to get extensively involved to mobilize beneficiaries for vaccination of second dose, he added. Among other initiative to ensure maximum penetration of vaccine among people of the state at the earliest the State Government will soon start administering the vaccine at eateries, restaurants, hotels and to street vendors as soon as the guidelines in this regard are issued so as to contain the spread of Corona virus. Besides this, a pick and drop service will be provided to differently-abled persons, who are unable to travel by themselves, he added.
