Haryana Revenue and Disaster Management Department has delegated the powers of Collector to all District Municipal Commissioners in the State

Chandigarh, June 17: Haryana Revenue and Disaster Management Department has delegated the powers of Collector to all District Municipal Commissioners in the State within their respective jurisdictions under various sections of the Punjab Land Revenue Act, 1887, to recover the taxes, fees and charges payable to the municipal bodies as arrears of land revenue under the Haryana Municipal Act, 1973.

A notification to this effect was issued here by the Financial Commissioner Revenue and Additional Chief Secretary, Revenue and Disaster Management, Mr. Sanjeev Kaushal.

The Department has also conferred the powers of Assistant Collector 1st Grade on all District Municipal Commissioners. The powers of Assistant Collector 2nd Grade have been given to all Executive Officers of Municipal Councils.

All the Commissioners of Municipal Corporations have also been given the power of Collector within their jurisdictions to recover the taxes, fees and charges payable to the municipal bodies under the Haryana Municipal Corporation Act, 1994. The Revenue and Disaster Management Department has also conferred the power of Assistant Collector 1st grade on all the Additional Commissioners, and Additional and Joint Municipal Commissioners of the Municipal Corporations. Similarly, the powers of Assistant Collector Grade 2nd have been conferred on all the Deputy Municipal Commissioners, Executive Officers and Zonal Taxation Officers of the Municipal Corporations in their respective jurisdictions to recover the taxes, fees and charges payable to municipal bodies as arrears of land revenue, the notification added.

The Haryana Government had recently created new posts of District Municipal Commissioner in every district with a view to speed up the development works in all Municipal Committees.
