Chandigarh, November 16– Haryana Transport Minister, Sh. Mool Chand Sharma directed the officers to ensure road safety standards along with construction of new roads so that accidents can be avoided.

The Transport Minister was presiding over the meeting of the State Road Safety Council at Haryana Niwas here today. He directed the officers to work where road marking or repair is required on priority basis, as the foggy season is approaching in which there is a high possibility of accidents due to low visibility. He directed to form joint teams with NHAI for same and initiate necessary action wherever required. He also said that the helpline and medical helpline numbers should be available at an adequate distance on the road so that the help to the victims can be reached at the earliest in case of any emergency.

Sh. Mool Chand Sharma reviewed all the ongoing highway projects in the State. He directed the concerned officers to put pressure on the contractors to repair the roads within the stipulated time period, as well as fix the responsibility of the contractor for the roads that break before time.

The Transport Minister directed all the officers to ensure proper monitoring of commercial vehicles having flicker tapes and reflectors. He also asked to depute an officer through RTO in all sugar mills to ensure that reflector tapes are fitted on all the heavy mobility vehicles.

On this occasion, Additional Chief Secretary, School Education Department, Dr. Mahavir Singh, Principal Secretary, Transport Department, Smt. Kala Ramachandran, Transport Commissioner, Sh. Amitabh Dhillon and IG Traffic, Dr. Rajshri Singh were also present.
