The world is made primarily of earth, water, air and fire, just like our bodies. The key to leading a good life is to find the perfect balance in all. Any imbalance can lead to bad health, bad financial situation or any other sort of loss.  We need to maintain a balance between the mind, body and spirit and meditation, yoga and a clean diet are very helpful in that.

Hindus believe immensely in taking care of the body and the mind and that can be assured only by watching what you eat. What we eat affects our moods and thoughts. Food can be divided into three main heads- tamasic, rajasic and satvic. These lay out certain types of food that should be consumed during the three meals of the day and list the benefits of each as well.

  • Tamasic food: something that is stale and left over can bring negative emotions and are avoided.
  • Rajasic food: meat, eggs, onions, garlic are foods that can generate some strong emotional feelings in one’s mind.
  • Satvic food: These are most desirable as it can never irritate someone but only soothes them. These foods include fruits, nuts, vegetables, whole grains etc.

Yoga is more of a spiritual path than a physical one. It allows man to purify himself and attain a higher mental and spiritual well- being. It goes hand in hand with meditiation which has its own benefits.

This is widelt used by Hindus for religious purposes and it contains medical values as well. It has anti microbial property and it considered a a very important plant in Ayurveda as well. It is used to treat a lot of common ailments like cold, stomach aches, head aches and some heart problems. It is also used in Indian households as a bug repellent.

Self-control is very important for Hindus. They believe that the mind and body can be trained to do any task and this is possible by the act of self control.

  1. Fasting

This is a very common act amongst Hindus. They hold fasts on holy days and this ‘intermittent fasting’ helps the immune system reduces cancer, promotes stem cell regeneration, especially in the brain.

  1. Oral health

Oral hygiene is a very important part of human health. The dietary patterns of a person control the hygiene in the mouth. Hindus follow a diet of fibrous and coarse vegetables that reduce tooth decay and also keep the jaw working.

The main reason to do meditation is to connect with God but there also health benefits that follow. It reduces negative thinking, fear, anxiety and mental blocks.

  1. Hygiene and cleanliness

Hindus have a very strict code when it comes to hygiene and cleanliness. They take bath every day in the morning and visit the temples to perform rituals. Since the food they consume is eaten by hands, they also wash their hands regularly.

  1. The belief of karma

Karma is one of the main points hat drives Hindu religion. Each individual faces the consequences of all the actions they take and this makes them act in the best manner possible. Based on this belief, Hindus keep the good energy flowing.
