Khanna/Ludhiana, August 16 2021
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leadership led by party’s Punjab president and Member of Parliament, Bhagwant Mann and Leader of Opposition (LoP) Harpal Singh Cheema, on the occasion of Independence Day, paid homage to the hero of Goa Liberation Movement, martyr Karnail Singh Isru. On Sunday, the leaders paid floral tributes at the memorial of martyr Karnail Singh Isru and raised revolutionary slogans as a tribute to the freedom fighters.
Talking to the media on the occasion, Bhagwant Mann said, “The freedom of the dreams of martyrs has not reached the homes of common people. This freedom is confined to the houses, palaces and red lights of the rulers. The Aam Aadmi Party is determined to bring the martyr’s dreams of freedom to the homes of the common people.” He said dictatorship was being imposed on the country and democracy was being killed every day. “Bills are being passed in Parliament in an undemocratic manner and by force. The voice of the opposition is being suppressed,” added Mann.
Commenting on the dire situation in the country, Bhagwant Mann said, “If independent India would have been like the dream created by the martyrs, the farmers and laborers of the country would not be struggling on the streets today, unemployed would not have climbed on the tanks and teachers, doctors, nurses, sanitation workers, pensioners and other employees struggling for their legitimate demands would not be harassed by the government. He said these barriers of youth ensnared in unemployment would be broken only when there was a government with good intentions and policy in Punjab.
He lamented that Shaheed Bhagat Singh along with many freedom fighters had sacrificed their lives to drive the British out of the country, but today due to the incompetent governments of the Congress and the SAD-BJP, which have been ruling Punjab and the country for 74 years; unemployed people of Punjab were forced to migrate to the country of those British by paying lakhs of rupees.
The AAP leader said the farmers of the country had been sitting on the borders of Delhi for the last nine months and more than 600 farmers had been martyred, but Modi’s dictatorial government was not listening to the ‘annadatas’. Replying to a question, Bhagwant Mann said Harsimrat Kaur Badal and the entire Badal family had been supporting the three agricultural laws of the Narendra Modi government and even today they are in collusion.
Bhagwant Mann said with the formation of the Aam Aadmi Party government in Punjab in 2022, barriers of the youth ensnared in unemployment will be broken and the culprits of sacrilege will be punished on priority basis. “We will make Punjab and the country like the dreams created by the martyrs of independence,” he added.
On the occasion, MLAs Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer, Kulwant Pandori, Amarjit Singh Sandoa, Manjit Singh Bilaspur, Payal constituency incharge Manwinder Singh Giaspura, Navjot Singh Jarag, Harbhupinder Singh Dharor, Baljinder Singh Chaunda, Gurdarshan Singh Kohli, Jagtar Singh Dayalpura, Jaswant Singh Gajjan Majra, Anil Dutt Phalli, Shira Banbhora, Capt Rampal, Karan Sharma, Varinder David, Lachhman Singh Grewal, Dharminder Singh Ruprae, Taranpreet Saund and Gagandeep Singh Cheema, among others were present.
