An interactive workshop was organised under the Chairmanship of Kumar Rahul, IAS, Secretary, Employment Generation, Skill Development & Training with the Training Partners working under the Skill schemes of Punjab Skill Development Mission followed by Interaction with Industry Associations/ Industries of Ludhiana at Bachat Bhawan, Ludhiana today.

Deepti Uppal, IAS, Director General, Employment Generation, Skill Development & Training, Surabhi Malik, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Ludhiana, Rajesh Tripathi, PCS, Additional Mission Director, DEGSDT, Amit Kumar Panchal, ADC, Ludhiana and the officials from PSDM and DBEE Ludhiana were also part of the workshop.
In the first session with the 21 Training partners, Kumar Rahul, IAS, Secretary, DEGSDT took in depth review of the Performance and the Placement Progress of various schemes of Govt. of India like DDU-GKY, PMKVY and DAY-NULM for which PSDM is the nodal implementing agency in the state of Punjab.
The issues faced by the TPs were answered in this session and the ideas for better working and coordination were shared by the Training Partners. Suggestions were also made by the officers of the Government for the success of the schemes.
In the second session with the Industry Associations and Industries in Ludhiana, the focus was to encourage them to engage youth under Apprenticeship scheme, to invite CSR in Skill Development, to Empanel the industries with PSDM for captive employment. Industry was quite forthcoming in providing their feedback and to start new courses as per their requirement. MoU was signed with 4 Industry associations namely Auto Parts Manufacture association of India; Federation of Industrial and Commercial organization, Ludhiana; Chamber of Industrial & Commercial undertakings; United Cycle and parts manufacturer association, Ludhiana towards commitment in proving apprenticeship trainings.
Secretary sir ended with a note that future of the youth is in our hands. He ensured that the main focus should be suitable mobilization and good placements for the youth and steps would be taken for the future improvements through various initiatives for better employment opportunities to the youth of Punjab. ADC, Ludhiana further ensured to conduct more such meetings in the future for providing one platform for all stakeholders and promised to provide all the required support.
Kumar Rahul along with his team also made a visit to the Multi Skill Development Centre, Govt. ITI, Ludhiana & IVY, Dugri to check the regular day to day working of the skill centres and suggested some improvements so that quality training is given to the youth of Punjab in order to enhance their employability.
