POONCH MAY, 18, 2021: The Jammu & Kashmir Aligarh Society organised a one day National level webinar on ‘Covid-19 and our responsibilities amid the unprecedented loss caused by it across the globe especially in India.’
The Webinar was held under the patronage of its President, Prof Mussaraf Hussain Shah.
On this occasion, Tahir Khursheed Raina Principal District & Session Judge was Chief the Guest, while Prof. Sayed Latif Hussah Shah Kazmi, Chairman Department of Philosophy AMU Aligarh was guest of Honour and Quershi former MLC J&K assembly was special guest and Mohd Amin Anjum, IGP (Retd) presided over the session.
The programme started with the homage paying prayers to all those who lost battle to covid-19 especially, AMU fraternity.
In his welcome address, Prof. Mussaraf Hussain Shah briefed that the event has been held to express solidarity with the victims of pandemic and mark Eid-Milan.
“It is rather a time of mourning than a virtual Eid Milan, held to discuss with the members of society ways and means to act against this virus & protect the precious lives,” he added.
Tahir Khursheed Raina delivered key lecture and underlined the gravity of situation and listed short- & long-term remedies including following the religion with true spirit, enlightening ourselves with education, paying Zakat and alms to needy; going for timely vaccination & adhering to Covid SOPs to overcome the pandemic. He also said “It is our collective responsibility to supplement the government efforts in this fight against the virus.
Prof. Latif Kazmi informed about the loss the AMU suffered amid the deadly 2nd wave & insisted that the only protection is to strictly follow the SOPs and take vaccination.
M.R Quarshi also stressed upon the need of being more practical while combating the virus.
Muzaffaer Iqbal Khan former Judge, Pervaiz Iqbal Session Judge, Ghulam Nabi Dar from University of Kashmir, Nayem, Dr. Jamsheed Ahmed from Doda, Dr. Shamim Ahmed Bandey, Dr. Tabassum Naz, Fozia Sub Judge, Dr. Maroof Khan also spoke on the occasion. They highlighted how they are engaged in community work and their respective places.
Dr. Ashaq Malik from PG. College Rajouri moderated the event, while Dr. Tariq Hussain Sheikh from GDC Poonch provided technical support to the programme.
The programme concluded with AMU Tarana and the prayer for peace to everyone who lost life in the pandemic.
