Addressing a press conference at the party office on Tuesday, chief spokesperson Malvinder Singh Kang said that that on one hand the national leaders of the Congress talk about joining the country and strengthening the federal structure, on the other hand Pratap Singh Bajwa is favoring the Governor. Perhaps, he has forgotten that the BJP misused the office of the Governor and toppled the Congress government in Arunachal Pradesh, Maharashtra, Goa, Madhya Pradesh and Karnataka or did not allow the government to form despite having a majority.
Kang said that Bajwa should have taken stand for Punjab but after hearing his speech, even the spokesperson of BJP would have felt ashamed.Kang further said that Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann had not only gone to Hoshiarpur to close the toll plaza, but also exposed the anti-people stand of previous governments and how they caused Rs 300 crore loss to the common people in past 10 years.
He said that toll plaza supposed to be closed in 2013, and they were fined 60 crores for violation. The Akali-BJP government not only waived their fine but also extended the toll contract along with a subsidy of Rs 49 crore. During this time, Pratap Singh Bajwa himself was the minister of PWD, so what did he do for the common people?
Responding to a question regarding the Patiala-Samana-Patdar toll plaza, Kang said that it has received 60 days time from the honorable court. But this does not mean that their looting will continue, they have been sent notices and their security deposits have also been confiscated.
On Bajwa’s comment on Zira Liquor Factory case, Kang said that if he believes that Bhagwant Mann has done wrong by closing the Zira Liquor Factory, then I dare him that if he has the courage, he will say this in front of people of Zira.
He said that till yesterday the Congressmen and Akali were shedding crocodile tears at Zira protest, now they are objecting to the closure of the liquor factory. This shows who is the true well wisher of the people of Punjab. People suffered from the poison of factory for 15 years, no one is bigger than the public in a democracy, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann listened to the public and took a decision in the interest of the public.
Reiterating commitment to work for the welfare of people, Kang said that despite their nefarious alliances and anti-Punjab statements, the Mann government will continue its work. A government elected by the people is answerable only to the people of Punjab and the Constitution. The Supreme Court has also said that the governor should stay away from politics. By following the path of Babasaheb Ambedkar’s constitution, the AAP government is working dedicatedly for public welfare. Party spokesperson Dr. Sunny Ahluwalia, Ahibab Grewal and advocate Ravinder Singh were present in this press conference along with Kang.
