LAACL celebrates World Theatre Day in Kargil

KARGIL, MARCH 27, 2022 

Ladakh Academy of Art Culture and Languages (LAACL) Kargil today celebrated World Theatre Day at Auditorium Hall, Kargil.

Executive Councilor for Tourism, Er Phunsok Tashi was the chief guest at the event besides Executive Engineer REW, Gulzar Hussain Munshi, Deputy Secretary LAACL, Nazir Hussain, Executive Engineer Mechanical Division, Muhammad Hassan, Assistant Director Tourism, Aga Syed Toha, OSD to Secretary Tourism and Culture Muhammad Ali Tak, district officers, artists of RANTHAG Theatre Group and theatre enthusiasts were present on the occasion.

During the event, artists of RANTHAG Theatre Group performed a Purgi play titled Lchama Khatoon, directed by Kacho Ahmad Khan and written by Taqi Khan Nayab.

Addressing the event, Er Phunsok appreciated the endeavors of RANTHAG and said that it has always tried to spread awareness pertaining to social issues of society.

On the occasion, EC Tashi said the program was aimed to make people aware of the importance of theatre. He said LAACL Kargil deserves appreciation for holding the event.

Tashi advised RANTHAG Theatre Group to continue their theatrical activities in the future as well in order to educate and entertain the masses.

Earlier, in his welcome address, Deputy Secretary LAACL Kargil, Nazir Hussain while speaking about the importance of the day thanked dignitaries and guests for attending the event.

Director RANTHAG Theatre Group, Kacho Ahmed Khan expressed gratitude to the audience for making the event successful. He also talked about the activities of the Theatre Group. Tsewang Rigzin and Fatima Sigra conducted the program proceedings.

The day celebrates the essence, beauty, and importance of theatre arts, their significant role in entertainment, and the symbolic impact that theatre has on life.
