Matching grants for village chaupals to be increased by the Development and Panchayats Department
Chandigarh, March 17- Haryana Deputy Chief Minister, Dushyant Chautala said that the matching grants for village chaupals will be increased by the Development and Panchayats Department in order to modernise them.
He said this while replying to a question raised by an MLA during the Budget Session today in the Vidhan Sabha.
Giving information in this regard he said that former Deputy Prime Minister, Chaudhary Devi Lal had started giving matching grants for Chaupals in Haryana during his tenure as Chief Minister. He informed that modern community centres are being built by some large panchayats in the State with their own funds. He said that the present government wants to make the Panchayats Aatmanirbhar (Self Reliant) so that the Gram Panchayats are competent enough to initiate the developmental works as per their requirement.
Dushyant Chautala said that the State Government will encourage the community centre tradition by increasing the matching grant being given to the chaupals.
In response to another question, the Deputy Chief Minister said that the State Government had increased the annual income limit from Rs 1.20 lakh to Rs 1.80 lakh for any member of BPL family in December 2019. This income limit is applicable to all schemes for BPL families being implemented by the State Government.
He informed that the State Government is committed to strengthening and uplifting the economic condition of the poor people of the State.
