MCM celebrates International Human Solidarity Day with woollens donation drive

To mark the celebration of International Human Solidarity Day, the NSS units and Character Building Committee of Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women, Chandigarh, organised ‘सौहार्द’- the annual woollen clothes donation drive. A dedicated box was placed in the college premises for the students and staff to donate woollens as part of an endeavour to gift warmth to the underprivileged people grappling with the cold weather conditions. The drive received an overwhelming response and the clothes thus collected were donated to the unprivileged living in Sector 38. The NSS volunteers provided the donees with not just a fabric but also a transformative experience filled with warmth, dignity and a sense of belongingness. The smiles of the people receiving the clothes were a testament to the success of this drive. Principal Dr. Nisha Bhargava emphasised the importance of community donations as she said that generosity is the language of the heart, spoken through acts of kindness.  She added that it is through the act of giving that one discovers the pure joy that comes from making a positive impact on the community.
