MCM holds programme on financial awareness and consumer training

The Postgraduate Department of Commerce, Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women, Chandigarh organised ‘Financial Awareness and Consumer Training’ Programme in collaboration with National Centre for Financial Education (NCFE). The resource person for the event was Dr. Monika Aggarwal, NCFE and SEBI Trainer. A total of 106 students attended the event. The programme provided thorough insight into financial literacy as a combination of awareness, knowledge, skill, attitude, and behaviour. The speaker also shed light on responsible use of credit card, education loan borrowing and identity theft protection. Further, various real-life examples of fraudulent financial transactions were discussed by the speaker. The students were also made aware about other programmes conducted by NCFE which provides financial education to the youth. The programme equipped the students with the know-how to be financially independent and become an informed investor.

Principal Dr. Nisha Bhargava appreciated the efforts of the Department of Commerce for educating students about the crucial aspect of financial literacy that can help everyone stand in good stead in life. She added that the college will continue to empower students by making them financially aware through such initiatives.
