Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women, Chandigarh made its mark at the Panjab University Zonal Youth and Heritage Festival 2021 held at Guru Gobind Singh Khalsa College for Women, Jhar Sahib, as it grabbed the overall 2nd Runner-up trophy at the festival.

The stellar performances of the college’s participants in various competitions resulted in 11 first positions, 15 second positions and 9 third positions. Showcasing their exceptional talent, the participants secured first positions in Story writing, Cartooning, On the Spot Painting, Collage making, Poster making, Muhavredar Vartalap, Quiz, Histrionics, Geet, Indian Orchestra (Team) and Indian Orchestra (Individual).
In Debate, Ennu making, Pranda making, Cartooning, Still life, Installation, Clay Modelling, Poster making, Mitti de Khidone, Group Shabad, Classical Vocal, Folk Song, Percussion, General dance (Individual Prize) and Indian Orchestra (Individual Prize), the college bagged 2nd positions. Third positions were secured in Elocution, Peerhi, Collage making, Heritage Quiz, Skit (Team Prize), Skit (Individual Prize), General Dance (Team Prize), Indian Orchestra (Individual Prize) and Non percussion. After their grand success, the winners were also felicitated at the college by Dr. A. K. Sharma, Vice President, DAV College Managing Committee, who was present on this occasion, and Principal Dr. Nisha Bhargava.
Dr. A. K. Sharma congratulated the winners and expressed appreciation for the college’s efforts directed towards ensuring holistic development of the students. He added that it is heartening to note that due to its various laudable international and national accomplishments, the college has established itself as a brand that commands a prominent place in the academic map of the country.
Acknowledging the kind of hard work that goes into the preparation for the fest, Principal Dr. Nisha Bhargava was all praises for the participants and congratulated them for their stupendous performance. She said that it is a matter of immense pride that the students of MCM bring laurels to the college at various prestigious platforms, taking the college’s rich legacy of excellence forward.
