Over 2500 people participate in camp, several given benefits of various schemes at the spot
District and Sessions Judge and DC inaugurate mega legal services camp
Khanna (Ludhiana), November 9
The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) in collaboration with Ludhiana district administration on Tuesday organized a mega legal services camp today on the occasion of Legal Services Day at Gulzar Group of Institutions, Khanna on the eve of Legal Services Day which witnessed an overwhelming response with over 2500 people participated and were given assistance on various government schemes.

District and Sessions Judge Munish Singhal and Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma inaugurated the camp.
Khanna SSP Gursharandeep Singh was also attended the camp.
The camp was organized under Pan India Awareness and outreach program as a part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav to commemorate 75-years India’s Independence.
After inspecting the stalls, they called upon the officers to provide hassle-free services to public and facilitate deserving beneficiaries to avail the benefits of schemes.
The District and Sessions Judge and Deputy Commissioner said that the aim of organizing the legal services camps in the district was to make general masses aware about their rights and apprise them about the availability of free legal services, besides to ensure them to avail benifits of several welfare schemes launched by government.
They said that DLSA ensures free and prompt justice to the needy and poor people and appealed them to take maximum benefit of DLSA.
They said that Since April, 16000 challans cases were pending in Ludhiana judicial courts but now only 5000 challans were pending which shows our commitment to dispose off the pendency soon.
Around 20 stalls were installed by various departments including National Legal Services Authority (NALSA), health, revenue, regional transport authority, DBEE, rural development and panchayat, social security, women and child development, PSPCL,
Lead Bank, Red Cross Society and others put up stalls and provided necessary information about the several schemes and programs to the people.
They added that the departments’ representatives also delivered services to the several beneficiaries on the spot during the camp.
Applications from the citizens were accepted and forwarded to respective departments so that benefits of schems were also delivered at the spot.
Later, appreciation certificates were distributed among the NGOs and departments’ officials and who participated in the camp.
They also handed over sewing machines among needy women during the camp.
CJM-cum- DLSA Secretary PS Kaleka said that free legal services were provided to the needy and underprivileged sections from courts in sub-division level to Supreme Court level.
He said that people including women, children, SC/ ST, victims of natural calamities, workmen, people with annual income upto Rs 3 lakh and others were eligible for legal aid.
Prominent among present on the occasion included Sub-divisional Judicial Magistrate Ms Manni Arora, Judicial Magistrate First Class, Arun Gupta, Deepal Chhina and Madam Harjinder Kaur, RTA Narinder Singh Dhaliwal, SDM Manjeet Kaur, Tehsildar Navdeep Singh and others.
