Various Teams conducts surprise check at four mining and desilting sites

On the directives of Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi, the district administration today fully charged up and initiated a special crackdown campaign to check illegal mining across various mining sites of the district.

Disclosing this here today, Deputy Commissioner Isha Kalia said that the Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi on Sunday announced ‘Mission Clean’ and directed that strict action should be taken against unscrupulous elements indulging in illicit practices related to sand mining. After that, the various teams of Mining Officials of the District today carried out checking drives of four mining sites of the district to weed out illegal mining including Mirzapur, Kakrala, Bhankarpur and Sarangpur mining and desilting sites.
Ms. Kalia added that the state government has fixed sand rates at Rs. 9 Cubic Feet on the mining spots throughout the state and strict adherence to the fixed rate would be ensured in the district. She informed that the mining department today conducted surprise check at four mining sites. She also urged the people to come forward and lodge their complaint with the Deputy Commissioner’s office, if they have any inputs about illegal mining.
The Deputy Commissioner Ms. Isha Kalia strictly warned that if anyone found indulged in illegal practices about sand mining and selling it on exorbitant prices, then strict action would be initiated against him. Besides, people indulging in the transportation of the sand should not overcharge, she said, adding that no laxity in this regard would be tolerated at any cost.
She informed that the teams which were conducted checking drive, comprising Executive Engineer Mining Sarabjit Singh Gill, JE Sub Division Mohali Davinder Singh SDO Dera Bassi Naveen Garg.
